A multi-state vehicle theft ring linked to Hendersonville has led to several arrests and the recovery of multiple high-end stolen vehicles across five states.
The investigation began after a 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye was reported stolen from the 100 block of Midtown Court overnight on September 30. The vehicle’s key remained with the business, prompting investigators to suspect a professional theft operation.
By October 1, investigators traced the suspect vehicle’s license plate to Hopkinsville, Kentucky, where authorities recovered three stolen vehicles from Metro Nashville and identified a suspect, Antionio Gray Jr. Another individual, William McGilmer, 20, of Nashville, was later tied to the theft of the Challenger.
A week later, a 2018 Dodge Durango SRT stolen from Hendersonville’s Mansker Farms was recovered in Nashville. Metro Nashville Police arrested McGilmer on October 7 in connection with another vehicle theft, along with two others involved in the same ring. Hendersonville investigators then obtained a warrant for McGilmer for theft over $60,000.
The investigation led to Paint Rock, Alabama, where Hendersonville’s stolen Challenger was found. There, authorities identified Jonathan Wayne Pylant, who is believed to have been responsible for disposing of stolen vehicles. A search of Pylant’s property uncovered a chop shop and VIN-swapping operation, along with an illegal marijuana grow. Several more stolen vehicles and parts from Georgia, Florida, and Memphis were recovered.
On October 16, investigators connected the theft ring’s operation to Shawn Murray Jr., 25, who is believed to be leading the group. Murray was arrested on October 20 on charges of theft over $60,000.
In total, eight stolen vehicle cases were solved across five states in just over a week. Investigators continue working with multiple agencies to identify more suspects and recover additional property.
